Requited Finalist for Student Oscar
A Point Park University student film is a finalist for the 2012 Student Academy Awards by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Requited, by seniors Mark Christian, cinematographer and writer, and Madeline Puzzo, director and production designer, is one of only nine films named as finalists in the narrative category. In all, more than 560 films from students in 105 United States colleges and universities have been considered.

Quvis has announced the availability of Wraptor 2.0. Featuring Quvis’ proprietary Quality Priority Encoding technology, Wraptor 2.0 enables filmmakers to convert Final Cut Pro files to the Digital Cinema Package format used by most theatrical digital projection systems today.

Located in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center in Carmel Valley, Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas features two traditional auditoriums and six with boothless projection systems, seating up to 74 guests, 3D and surround sound technologies, reserved seating options, and high back reclining leather chairs for the ultimate in viewing comfort. Designed and installed by Christie Managed Services as part of a complete customized solution, the boothless systems free up space for an additional row of seating that would normally have been taken up by the projection booths.

Expanding Mido Dino’s World
LA-based creative design and production company Super 78 Studios is producing an animated feature for release in both the U.S. and China in late 2013. China Dinosaur Land, one of China’s largest and most popular theme parks, has partnered with the company to co-produce the film while developing the concept for an attraction that will be built in the park. Mido Dino is a family animated feature in a magical world where dinosaurs and humans live together.
